Seaholm Power Plant, Austin TX
The Seaholm Power Plant officially ceased operations in 1989 and the plant has pretty much remained a dormant structure until the last few years. Rather than demolition the City of Austin opted to use the building as a focal point of development in the area. In the last year it has hosted multiple outdoor music events and has catapulted up the list of Austin’s coolest venues.
On July 4th the plant opened it gates not only to provide a spectacular view of the fireworks but to raise money to benefit local nonprofit Anthropos Arts. The young musical talents of the Anthropos Musicians Collective also shared the stage throughout the day with The Olive Street Band, Till We’re Blue or Destroy, Bright Light Socal Hour and T-Bird and the Breaks.
