Being only a hop, skip and a jump away from my house I’m very happy to have Oasis Texas Brewing Company open in the space formerly filled by Uncle Billy’s on Lake Travis. I first learned about OTXBC while trying new craft beers at The Dig Pub and asked about the very interesting looking Slow Ride tap (photo below) and found out it was produced by a new brewery not too far up the road.
The next week I went out to OTXBC and visited the tap room which is on the third floor. Two of the brewers where there and chatted with us for at least 45 minutes, and within a few minutes it was quite obvious that they were very passionate about what they are doing. There were three beers that I got to try that day. The Luchesa Lager, Slow Ride, and my favorite, London Homesick Ale. All brewers have history working with other local breweries such as 512, Live Oak and Uncle Billy’s and decided to make their own beer.
If you haven’t had a chance to try one yet, be on the lookout for one of their beers on tap around town. They day we visited they just got their canning machine delivered so also keep an eye out for six packs to hit the shelves soon. Or even better yet, go visit them at the lake and have a beer with an awesome view.
