The Oasis Brewing Company had their grand opening on August 2, although their tasting area has been open to the public for some weeks prior (previous post). If you have attended an Austin brewery anniversary event or a grand opening before you know that Austinites show up in mass for beer events. Although crowded, the grand opening was well coordinated and felt far smoother than similar events I’ve been to. The lines were long, especially for the new tappings, but you got to the front in about 5-10 min. For $10 you received a pint glass and three delicious beers to fill said glass. There were three beers untapped, two that I tried, the Texas Tavern League IPA and the Baltic Porter. I really enjoyed the IPA (admitted Hop Head) and the porter had distinct coffee notes and a slight cocoa flavor with a good overall balance.
There were two ’stages’ of live music, because nothing accompanies a good pint of local beer than live music.
